Maturing Seedlings

An update on the pine seedlings as they are a few weeks more mature now. When placing my orchids into my terrarium, the orchids inflorescence whacked one of the pines, and turns out the pine root was rotted… So I added some more rooting hormone, and re-potted the plant onto a mount of sand. The hope is that it will develop a new root system. If it does, it would have a very very short trunk before the first branch.

The first needles have a yellowish tint to it now, but the centre new needles are still jade green. The seedling haven’t completely turned brown, I hope that’s a sign that it’s recovering. There’s another pine that’s developing quite well. Last time it was putting out some good growth, and now I’ve noticed that the trunk had hardened and turned brown, a good sign that it’s toughening up.

And now there are other pines which are coming along. Although they haven’t been putting out growth, at least they’re not dead, so hope is still there.
